There are two types of methods that most law firms use to charge attorneys fees on lemon law cases.
- Fee Shifting - The attorneys attempt to get paid by the manufacturer for their attorney’s fees at the time of settlement or after a successful result at trial. The fees are paid for work performed on an hourly basis. Some firms will charge you no upfront fees to the consumer and will try get paid by the manufacturer at the end of the case. Other firms will charge you upfront fees and attempt to get the consumer reimbursed by the manufacturer at the end of the case.
- Contingency Fee - The attorney gets paid a portion of the total recovery at the time of settlement or after a successful result at trial. No fees are charged to you unless and until something is recovered from the manufacturer.
